| Note: Field radioactivity measurements on Deep Rock School grounds were between 10 and 15 micro R per hour (background measurements were about 10 micro R per hour [ODEQ (32)]. For samples from a resident's property located south of Property A and north of Deep Rock Road, A, laboratory analytical results showed U-238, U-235, and Th-232, were less than the minimum detection limit. Ra-226 exceeded the minimum detection limit for only one of 5 samples analyzed and was found in that sample to be 2.6 picoCuries per gram [KM (40)]. Alpha and beta activity on that property did not exceed 17 and 21 pC/g, respectively [ODEQ (39)]. Data for other off-site locations (Table C2) have shown radioactivity to be at generally expected background levels. | |||||

| Note: Analyses of two samples (each split) of sediment taken in 1995 from Skull Creek and a tributary downstream from the site, between Deep Rock Road and Property A detected 23 of the common organic compounds. A few of those detected were VOCs; most were SVOCs. ATSDR comparison values are available for 15 of the compounds; none exceeded a comparison value. Eleven of the 15 were present at less than 10 ppm. The maximum concentration for the other four was 44 ppm. Eight compounds detected have no ATSDR comparison value. Those include benzo(a)anthracene, benzo(b)fluoranthene, benzo(ghi)perylene, carbazole, chrysene, dibenzo(ah)anthracene, 2-methylnaphthalene, and phenanthrene. The highest concentrations were for 2-methylnaphthalene (35 ppm) and phenanthrene (89 ppm). The others were less than 20 ppm. | |||||
