II. DISCUSSION
The sampling results from the petitioner’s well water did not show levels that would adversely affect health or indicate contamination. Although the current resident is not drinking the well water, it was assumed that it would be used in the future for consumption. The herbicide, Bromacil, which was detected in 1993, was not analyzed for in this latest sampling. Even though no other pesticides were detected in this sampling, it would be prudent to re-test for this compound.
The exceedance of secondary standards may make the water unpalatable to drink and may cause discoloration problems, but are unlikely to affect health. Iron and manganese are both naturally-occurring elements and are essential nutrients for humans at low doses. Their presence in the well water may be reduced by adding a filtration system or improving the condition of the well.
