CONCLUSIONS

1. The concentrations of environmental contaminants detected in the tailings pond do not pose a public health hazard under current conditions.
   
   
2. Groundwater contamination near the tailings pond was not evaluated.
   
   
3. Abandoned mines in the area pose a physical hazard to public health.

RECOMMENDATIONS

1. If the area is developed for residential use, potable groundwater wells should be tested for contamination.
   
   
2. Restrict public access to abandoned mines.
