Health Promotion and Community Involvement Branch (HPCIB)
The Health Promotion and Community Involvement Branch (HPCIB) supplies technical advice, guidance, and support. HPCIB’s particular areas are community involvement, health education, and environmental public health training. HPCIB staff plan, design, and carry out activities to get communities involved in public health. HPCIB
- Explains the agency’s roles, responsibilities, and processes
- Designs and carrying out evidenced-based community involvement activities that focus on environmental health awareness
- Promotes collaboration, capacity building, and the sharing information on potential health risks
- Gives ATSDR staff and state cooperative agreement partners technical assistance and leadership on community involvement and health promotion
- Develops and delivers to the public environmental public health education and information
- Trains ATSDR staff and partners in many aspects of environmental public health
HPCIB communicates in plain, culturally appropriate language. Through education, training, and communication activities, HPCIB helps communities understand, prevent, and reduce the health effects associated with exposures to hazardous substances.
Environmental Health Facts:
The Environmental Health Facts discuss basic information on various environmental health topics and how to prevent exposures to chemicals. The fact sheets are developed in online and print versions for community members and the public in general.
