December 11, 2009: First Leadership Council Meeting
The National Conversation Leadership Council will meet on December 11, 2009 at the Omni Shoreham Hotel, 2500 Calvert Street, NW, Washington, DC (from 9:30am – 4pm). This meeting will be open to the public, on a first come, first served basis, limited by the space available. An opportunity for the public to listen to the meeting by phone may be provided. October 26 – 28, 2009: National Environmental Public Health Conference
The National Environmental Public Health Conference (October 26-28 in Atlanta) offered many opportunities for people interested in the National Conversation and associated issues to become more familiar with subjects relevant to the project and to learn more about the project itself. See below for a sampling of sessions and ancillary meetings that took place.
- National Conversation on Public Health and Chemical Exposures Exhibit Booth: 12:00 pm Monday, October 26 – 12:00 pm Wednesday, October 28.
- Plenary session on Protecting the Public from Toxic Chemicals: 8:30 am - 10:00 am Tuesday, October 27. Topics included the National Conversation, scientific and regulatory advances and green chemistry, perspectives from industry, and learning from Europe's toxics reform effort.
- National Conversation on Public Health and Chemical Exposures Listening Session: Wednesday, October 28, following the conference from 2:00 – 4:00 pm, Athens Room, Sheraton Atlanta Hotel, 165 Courtland St., NE, Atlanta, GA 30303.
Conference participants and interested members of the public attended this open, facilitated discussion to exchange ideas and explored issues related to the National Conversation.
