Step 2.1 Estimating Exposure Doses

Example of an Ingestion Dose for Evaluating Noncancer Health Effects

This example involves calculation of a noncancer dose and a cancer dose for a gardener exposed to arsenic in surface soil for 35 years, where

arsenic concentrations  11mgchem/kgsoil

intake rate = 100mhsoil/day of soil from incidental ingestion

exposure factor = 5 days per week, 26 weeks a year, over 35 years

body weight = 70 kg
