Before Your Test
No food for 8 hours

Fast (don’t eat) eight hours before your appointment

  • Welcome and sign-in
  • Urine sample drop off
  • Height and weight measurements
  • Blood pressure check
  • Blood sample collection
  • Questionnaire completion, including medical and work history

Be sure your child takes his or her usual medication, unless your doctor says otherwise

What to Expect - 1 1/2 to 2 HOURS
The process for children will be the same as adults with two exceptions:

  1. A parent or guardian must accompany the child, preferably the birth mother who can answer questions about her pregnancy

  1. Children age 5 years and over will also have a second appointment to complete several behavioral tests like:
  • Playing memory games
  • Sorting items into categories
  • Solving puzzles
  • Reacting to photographs
While Waiting...

Once you arrive for the appointment, the wait shouldn’t be long. We’ll have crayons and coloring books for younger children. Feel free to bring electronic devices, games or books from home.
