March 2015 – Recruitment and Sign-Ups

ATSDR and ADHS representatives were in Hayden and Winkelman the week of March 23, 2015 to share information, answer questions, and sign-up eligible participants for appointments in April 2015. Representatives worked toward these goals by holding public meetings, open house events, and door to door conversations in Hayden and Winkelman.

April 2015 – Lead and Arsenic Testing Appointments

ATSDR and ADHS representatives completed testing appointments April 17-19, 2015 for 83 residents of Hayden and Winkelman from 29 different households. All participants received lead testing and 58 participants received arsenic testing as well.

June 2015 – Results Letters Sent to Participants

ATSDR sent results letters to individual participants.

March 2017 – Blood Lead and Urine Arsenic Testing Report

ATSDR released the final report. It summarizes the results of the testing, and makes recommendations for reducing exposures.

October 2017 – Follow Up Urine Arsenic Testing

During the week of October 23, 2017, ATSDR staff recruited participants for a urine arsenic retest. We focused on recruiting people from households that participated in the 2015 testing. We completed urine arsenic retests for 33 residents from 13 households in Hayden and Winkelman. The CDC laboratory tested the urine.

December 2017 – Results Letters Sent to Participants

ATSDR sent results letters to individual participants.

November 2019 – Follow Up Arsenic Testing Report

ATSDR released the final report. It summarizes the results of the testing and makes recommendations for reducing exposures.
