Geospatial Research Analysis and Services Program (GRASP)

Key points

GRASP supports ATSDR by providing geospatial analyses and visualizations that enable health assessors and communities to better understand environmental, sociodemographic, and other issues associated with chemical exposures across the United States.

Resources

  • GRASP - This website provides information about the services that GRASP offers to the public health assessment (PHA) process- You can request that GRASP generate maps and figures for your PHA documents. If you are an ATSDR health assessor, request services directly from GRASP. If you are a health assessor in APPLETREE, reach out to your ATSDR Technical Project Officer who will enter a request for GRASP services on your behalf. To explore collaborating with GRASP, contact placeandhealth@cdc.gov.
  • GRASP Figures (Examples) - ATSDR's GRASP analysts can work with health assessors to create GIS maps with multiple layers depicting information, such as locations of contamination sources, areas of different concentrations of environmental contamination (e.g., plumes), population densities and other relevant demographic characteristics, and exposure points. These data can be shown for large areas, such as counties or large cities, and smaller locations, such as census tracks or blocks. The examples in this file are included to show health assessors some of the types of images GRASP can create during the PHA process.
