Program Description:
The Public Health Assessment Training (PHAT) online modules are designed to increase knowledge and change competency of environmental health practices and strategies. The content of the modules is derived from the method used by the Agency for Toxic Substances and Disease Registry (ATSDR), which is known as the public health assessment (PHA), to evaluate exposure to hazardous substances.

Objectives:
At the conclusion of the session, the participant should be able to:

  1. Describe the purpose of the screening analysis used in the public health assessment process (PHA).
  2. Define ATSDR-derived comparison values (CVs) used for screening.
  3. Identify sources for non-ATSDR screening levels.
  4. Define health guidelines.
  5. Identify the steps of the screening analysis.
  6. Identify ATSDR’s approach to selecting appropriate screening levels.
  7. Identify contaminants requiring further evaluation.
