She worked for 22 years for the Environmental Protection Agency of the São Paulo State of Brazil (CETESB); was president of the Mutagen Society Member of the Editorial Board of Environmental Molecular Mutagenesis journal; and is an expert and a member of the UNESCO-International Initiative on water quality Experts Advisory Group.

Dr. Rider received her B.S. from Tulane University, New Orleans, LA in Environmental Studies and Biology and her Ph.D. from North Carolina State University, Raleigh, NC in Environmental Toxicology. She completed post-doctoral training in the Reproductive Toxicology Branch of the National Health and Environmental Effects Research Laboratory, U. S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Nicholas School of the Environment at Duke University.

In 2009, he became Assistant Professor of Chemistry at the University of Pennsylvania, and Associate Professor of Chemistry in 2015. He received the ACS Harry Gray Award for Creative Work in Inorganic Chemistry by a Young Investigator (2016); is on the Editorial Advisory Board Member of Inorganic Chemistry (2016-2018); ACS Division of Inorganic Chemistry, Chair Elect (2016); fellow of the Royal Society of Chemistry (2017) and U.S. Environmental Protection Agency Green Chemistry Challenge Award Recipient (2017).
